Once your bike is sitting for a while the oil will drain down, lose pressure and will rattle until the oil pressure is back up, this is what causing your timing chain to jump. This auto ratchet adjuster requires no maintenance. This product replaces the Polaris OEM tensioner, part #: 3023143 (Tensioner Ratcheting).
