Boot mode flashing allows direct communication with a controller by opening the ECU housing and connecting directly to points on the circuit board. This method provides the highest level of access but requires precise and stable probe placement.
Some MCUs (microcontroller units) use a BGA (Ball Grid Array) design, where the pins are hidden beneath the processor and soldered directly to the circuit board. This makes direct pin access difficult. This BGA hook is designed to make contacting these hidden pins easier and more reliable than traditional probing methods.
