Engine Calibration
- SOTF
- Increased throttle response (reduced or elimination of dead pedal)
- Increased torque in all power levels which allows earlier shifts when applicable for improved fuel economy
- Increased fuel economy due to optimal commanded fuel quantity, injection events, timing, and trans calibration
- Quicker response to driver input due to transient fuel, timing, VGT and Transmission calibration
- All safe non aggressive OEM detune / back down strategies are left intact or calibrated for the higher power levels that prevent premature failures
- All limiters that are safe to be removed are
- Exhaust brake memory and maximized exhaust brake
- Removal of auto start and stop as well as idle timers
- Tire sized changed and if opted for transmission calibration it is optimized for specific tire size / gear ratios
Rumble/Whistle Sound Option – If you selected this option above
What is Rumble or Whistle?
You may be wondering what exactly the "Rumble" or "Whistle" sounds are. Let us break it down for you.
-
Rumble Sound: This is achieved by setting the VGT position "wider," creating a deep, throaty idle tone. If you have a 5" exhaust, this will produce a noticeable drone and echo, similar to a tractor sound.
-
Whistle Sound: For the whistle, the VGT positions are set "tighter," which increases engine back pressure and creates a high-pitched whistle or hiss. This resembles the sound of a jet plane, especially if you don’t have a muffler. If you do have a muffler, the whistle may not be as pronounced.
We offer both rumble and whistle options across select Switch/SOTF levels. Be sure to specify in the text box which levels you'd like each sound on. If you don’t specify, you'll receive:
- CSP4: 2 Rumbles, 2 Whistles
- CSP5: 3 Rumbles, 2 Whistles
Transmission Calibration
- Extended transmission life, increased fuel economy, and better driving experience
- Increased line pressure and shift parameters that would reduce shift times, slip etc follow actual torque models in ECM and TCM
- This strategy increases fuel milage, reduces duty cycle wear, eliminates harsh or random inconsistent shifts or characteristics that do not match the drivers request, input or desired feel
- This is why it is important the engine calibration be done correct or our transmission calibrations be paired with our engine calibrations as the models have to mimic each other
- All calibrations match the increased torque as well as earlier torque to apply it most efficiently
- Refined shift points to get rid of the low rpm lazy feel at low driver inputs cruising or towing waiting on the turbo to spool that usually results in a lot of pedal travel and down shift
- Tire size, gearing, and larger turbos this is a must to tailor to that specific mod
- Earlier converter lock up to use increased torque & increase fuel milage as well as reduce temps
- Earlier unlock & downshift eliminates lag from time of driver input to acceleration
- Torque converter OEM partial lock or locked shifts to remove flare feel during shifts
- TC feel can be stock or increased for less slip to lock time in 2-6 gears
- Full manual control over shifts in driver select mode
- Stock tuning 160 PSI
- Stock valve body 170 PSI
- Aftermarket valve body 225+ PSI recommend for calibrations above heavy tow
- Since hydraulic pressure is directly related to your clutch holding power we do not recommend tuning over heavy tow without a aftermarket valve body
Transmission Calibration
WKP’s transmission tuning is unrivaled, with extensive research and development that stems from a deep understanding of both the mechanical parts and TCM logic. Our transmission tuning for Ram Trucks (2003-Present) is based on real-world experience, having built over 1600HP transmissions in-house and applying that knowledge to our specialty tuning. Our calibrators aren't just theorists—they build
Why Choose WKP for Your Transmission?
-
Tuning for Tire Size and Gear Ratio: Say goodbye to struggling with oversized tires. We tailor our transmission tuning to match your specific tire size and gear ratio, ensuring smooth, controlled performance.
-
OEM-like Feel or Firm Shifts: You can keep the torque converter (TC) behavior close to stock or upgrade to firmer shifts with early lockup. We offer options to lock the TC in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear, with our most popular option being the 3rd Gear TC Stock Feel.
If you're looking to maximize your 68RFE’s power delivery and keep it reliable, we've got you covered with locked shifts.
Locked Shifts Explained
So, what exactly are Locked Shifts?
The 68RFE transmission, particularly in Chrysler trucks, has a reputation for being delicate. To prevent damage and smooth out shifts, Chrysler implemented a "partial lock" of the torque converter during shifting. This reduces strain on internal clutches and cushions the hard parts of the transmission, but it can cause an increase in RPMs during shifts—often feeling like a slip or "flare."
-
Why Locked Shifts Matter: In certain situations, especially on trucks from 2013-2018, this partial lock can result in a noticeable RPM rise. By implementing Locked Shifts, we remove this issue, providing a smoother, more consistent shift.
-
Early Models (2007-2012): These trucks are less prone to this flare due to their tighter partial lockup, so locked shifts aren’t always necessary.
-
2019+ Models: Chrysler tightened up the partial lockup again, similar to the earlier models, so you may not need locked shifts in these trucks.
When to Choose Locked Shifts:
- If you tow heavy loads or plan to run high-performance tuning on your truck with a stock transmission, locked shifts will provide smoother shifts and improve long-term durability.
- For 2013-2018 trucks, especially with over 120HP, we recommend locked shifts.
Ultimately, it's your choice, but we’re here to help you make the best decision for your truck’s performance and reliability.
